Plays for Social Impact
Sole Purpose Productions has published Plays for Social Impact, a set of four plays that deal with important social issues, to mark our 21 YEARS.
The four plays, written by Patricia Byrne, have been touring since 2004. Don’t Say A Word - a play on domestic violence toured for ten years and was staged in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2008 where it was nominated for a Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award. See No Evil explores the issue of elder abuse, it was first produced in 2008 and toured Ireland for two years. A Wee Taste aims to raise awareness of underage drinking. It toured extensively to schools and community venues in 2011/12. Every Move You Make is a one woman play on abusive relationships among young people. It was first produced in 2012 and toured again recently in 2017, with more performances scheduled for 16 Days of Action Against Violence Against Women in November 2018.
These plays are now be available for teachers, community workers, social workers, theatre makers to use with groups. Each book includes a lesson / workshop plan that can be used to explore the issues. Price £4.95 available from Sole Purpose.
